Summary

No war can be fought with clean hands。 Not even the ones waged for the right reasons。 Not even the ones you win。

Tisaanah bargained away her own freedom to save those she left behind in slavery。 Now, bound by her blood pact, she must fight the Orders' war -- and Max is determined to protect her at all costs。

But when a betrayal tears apart Ara, Max and Tisaanah are pushed into an even bloodier conflict。 Tisaanah must gamble with Reshaye's power to claim an impossible victory。 And Max, forced into leadership, must confront everything he hoped to forget: his past, and his own mysterious magic。

All the while, darker forces loom -- far darker, even, than the Orders' secrets。

As Tisaanah and Max are ensnared in a web of ancient magic and twisted secrets, one question remains: what are they willing to sacrifice for victory? For power? For love?

I was a little "meh" at first because I just wanted to keep reading about Tissaanah and Max, but the more I read, the more I wanted to know about her story, about why she was cast aside and her story with Caduan, who I totally treasured and was my favourite character in that POV。 BUT THEN, THE BIGGEST PLOT TWIST HAPPENED WITH AEFE, CADUAN AND ISHQA AND I'M STILL TRYING TO PROCESS IT。 But to be honest, that plot twist was BRILLIANT。I truly BELIEVED that Tissanah and Max's POVs where set in the same timeline than Aefe's, or maybe a few years ahead, but I never imagined who Aefe truly was and what Caduan's role was going to be in the main role。 I'm utterly shocked, in the best way possible。I guess that now we understand Aefe's thoughts much better, even if her personality is difficult to defend in the present, but knowing who she was in the past? I totally understand her violent tendencies, even if her empathy is nowhere to be found (also understandable considering how much time has passed and in how many "places" she's been)。Another character whose empathy is nowhere to be found is Nura。 Look, I kinda defended her in the first book because I'm always conflicted with morally grey characters, and I was actually in the same point in this book, but when she explains her plan to Tissaanah and Max I was like: "This woman has totally lost her mind"。 She really doesn't have any empathy (and I'm not even judging but stating a fact) and she really can't understand that what she is doing has no justification at all, as much as she is trying to convince herself of it just to not feel guilty about her stupid decisions。 I think she is aware of what she is doing but she is like: "Okay, this is bad, but I can fight that bad with this other horrible decision and that will be fine and will justify it。"。 Jesus, Nura。 Chill。And her fight with Max at the end?? To be honest, I didn't know how that was gonna end, I had many theories。 But I really didn't expect it to go THAT way (and in general, THAT bad)。 She is a traitor who is just power-thirsty and really doesn't care who she has to fight to get there, even if it "hurts" her a little。 No。 Step aside already, lady。About the ending。。。 I don't even want to talk about this。 I totally, absolutely felt what Tissaanah felt when she woke up and found out what happened with Max。。。 And I know everyone kinda gave up and are just waiting to see how they can proceed but I know Tissaanahs's mind is with Max。 Because knowing Max is in THAT place is just。。。 unbearable。 It gave me (bad) goosebumps。What I'm asking for the last book (I'm so thankful it came out this month) is:- Aefe choosing T and M above her people (am I a dreamer? Maybe, but I think this could happen)- Tissaanah rescuing Max before he loses his mind in that place- Tissaanah destroying Nura to pieces- Ishqa being kicked as well, because his betrayal was simply sickAnd that's all。 I also want Sammarin and Moth to be super happy because they're two of my favourite side characters and I love them to death。TISSAANAH, GO FOR THEM。 Love you bebe。 。。。more

Fantastic world and characters The second book in this series is just as amazing as the first, with 3-dimensional characters and fantastic world-building。 The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it lacked the moments of lightness and fun that were smattered throughout the relationship-building in the first book。 Those moments of playfulness between the MCs, in an otherwise serious and (at times) tense storyline, are what kept me engaged with the characters and their arc。 I found myself Fantastic world and characters The second book in this series is just as amazing as the first, with 3-dimensional characters and fantastic world-building。 The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it lacked the moments of lightness and fun that were smattered throughout the relationship-building in the first book。 Those moments of playfulness between the MCs, in an otherwise serious and (at times) tense storyline, are what kept me engaged with the characters and their arc。 I found myself having to take many more breaks during this book just to deal with the sheer amount of bleakness。 Looking forward to the third book! 。。。more

This series has been a journey。 Every emotion a human can summon, this has summoned。 Every time I think I know what's coming, I end up surprised。 This series has been so much better than I expected, and I'm so happy I took the leap and started it。 The thing that makes this series so special is the characters。 Because really, the plot isn't anything world-shattering。 It's great, don't get me wrong, but it isn't the best thing about this series。 No, the best thing is the characters。 Every one of t This series has been a journey。 Every emotion a human can summon, this has summoned。 Every time I think I know what's coming, I end up surprised。 This series has been so much better than I expected, and I'm so happy I took the leap and started it。 The thing that makes this series so special is the characters。 Because really, the plot isn't anything world-shattering。 It's great, don't get me wrong, but it isn't the best thing about this series。 No, the best thing is the characters。 Every one of them is so complex。 Even the villains, or rather "villains" are amazingly complex。 None of them have simple motivations, none of them are one dimensional。 They're all beautifully flawed, and the exact characters I love to read about。 First up, Tisaanah。 Over the course of the two books, she's gone through so much。 Her character has gone through so many evolutions, and there's still so much more to come。 She's constructed bonds and had them destroyed。 She's been the betrayer and the betrayed。 She's fighting so hard for what is right, but at the same time, compromising all of her morals to get there。 She is the true definition of a morally grey character, and she shines so bright because of it。 And after discussing her, I cant ignore Max。 Every time I think I can't love him any more, he becomes even greater。 He's the very definition of a cinnamon-roll character。 He's sweet, he's strong, he's adorable。 His connection with Tisaanah is tangible, and despite all of his claims that he's a bad person, he's one of the best characters this book offers。 This brings us to Reshaye, who had an evolution I was never expecting。 I can't say too much without getting spoilery, but i loved where the book took this plotline。 It was heartshattering to see the way things all tied together, and even now, I'm still reeling。 Reshaye was a villain I never expected to love or feel sympathy for, but after the events of this one, I feel so much for her。 Another villain I couldn't help but fall for was Nura。 I didn't love her, no。 Loving her would be impossible。 But I felt so much for her。 Her journey hurt my heart。 After everything she went through, she was so damaged。 She was in so much pain it practically jumped off the page。 She was the perfect flawed character who pushes morality to its very edges。 And that last scene with her… ugh。 Total power scene, and the vibes it summoned。 To die for。 Although minor, I feel like I have to mention all of the minor side characters。 Moth is adorable, and I really hope he plays a role in the next book too。 He really helps to bring some humanity into this series, and remind us all what these characters are fighting for。 He's a shining beacon, and I will cry if he's ever hurt。 And the thing that brought all of these characters together so well was the writing style。 Broadbent has a style that's both beautifully simplistic and devastatingly impactful。 I was constantly writing down quotes from this one, whether they were declarations of love or songs of grief。 Although it may take me a while to get to it, I know I'll be rereading this series。 There's so much symbolism and foreshadowing hidden in here, and when I catch it, it'll add so much more to the experience。 Another thing I loved so much about this was the twists。 Sure, I guessed a few of them, but I never guessed them in their entirety。 The way all of the characters wove together was extraordinary, and I was shocked when their ties were revealed。 I'm assuming this is a trilogy, so I can't wait to see how all of these twists play into the next book。 (I'm praying this is a trilogy, because I won't be able to wait if it's not) And finally, I loved the romance。 In my review of Daughter of No Worlds, I'd said I preferred Max and Tisaanah as friends。 This one managed to change my mind completely。 The bond between the two of them is so pure, and their support for each other is amazing。 They've gained a spot as one of my favorite book couples。 Now im just praying they make it though the next book ok, as I will cease existence if they don't。 If you've ever eyed this series, stop questioning it, and just pick it up。 The covers are what caught my eye initially, but after spending over 1,000 pages in this world, I never want to let it go。 Thanks to Book of Matches Media for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review! 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This had quite a slow start, but oh boy did it pick up past the 50% mark。The story picks up right where book 1 ended, with Max and Tisaanah being thrown into Zeryth’s senseless war。 The first half from their point of view basically deals with those battles and how our characters are fighting to stay human and grounded in the face of such violence and irreconcilable goals。We also get introduced to Aefe, a new POV character who is Fey and faces a different war, in which humans are preying on Feys This had quite a slow start, but oh boy did it pick up past the 50% mark。The story picks up right where book 1 ended, with Max and Tisaanah being thrown into Zeryth’s senseless war。 The first half from their point of view basically deals with those battles and how our characters are fighting to stay human and grounded in the face of such violence and irreconcilable goals。We also get introduced to Aefe, a new POV character who is Fey and faces a different war, in which humans are preying on Feys for obscure reasons。 Disgraced princess of a sort, Aefe is looking for a path when she gets sent off on an expedition to figure out the reason behind the seemingly random but devastating human attacks。 While it always takes me a while to get into a new storyline and main character, especially when introduced past the first book of a series, it didn’t take me long to get attached to Aefe and her story。 You also get the feeling, through some foreshadowing touches and subtle mentions, that this human-Fey war isn’t a completely separate event from the main storyline。 I thought it was really well done。 Aefe also has her own romantic plotline with Caduan, a Fey King with a ghost kingdom with whom she shares an instant connection。 Their story is both enthralling and tragic and gave me all the feels。In the second half, a tragic turn of events abruptly changes the path of Aefe’s story, while Tisaanah and Max are thrown into a new war just when they thought they would finally get to return to their own fight。 We get multiple betrayals, close brushes with death, and the shocking transformation of two characters into villains。 Caduan’s “death” and Ishqa’s betrayal came in quick succession and were hard to read。 My poor heart。 So was Nura’s betrayal。 I wanted to scream at her。 My heart broke again for Max, who can’t seem to get a break。 So much happened。 I’m still emotionally drained。One aspect of this trilogy I love is how complex and grey the villains are。 A lot of stories don’t bother to give the villains a voice。 I really appreciated the dive into Nura’s memory, which made me understand her choices even though I don’t necessarily approve of them。 I also had a hunch that Caduan was the mad Fey King heading this new war, and I loved the cognitive dissonance that came from reconciling the empathetic character we came to know with a driven force so consumed by rage that all regard for human life was left behind。I loved everything about this: the writing, the complex characters, the magic system (those scenes with the threads of magic gave rise to awesome mental images and are among my favourites), the healthy, swoon-worthy love story。 This is a gem of an indie release and I’m so happy I stumbled upon it! 。。。more

The adventure continues, this series makes me crazy because you’re following people all over the place but that just makes the story very interesting。 I honestly didn’t know what would happen next and I loved that。 Great read。 Can’t wait for #3 and I am very lucky I do not have to wait long。

Broadbent did not come to play。 This book has some serious twists and developments that I did not seeing coming。 I desperately need Mother of Death and Dawn, but I’m so terribly sad that these dear characters are reaching the end of their tale。 Though it better be a good ending after everything that just happened here!!😲😭Overall, this was an impressive sequel that really didn’t struggle with middle-book syndrome。 It stands well on its own with the developments that come about and with the new characters that were introduced。 I particularly liked Aefe, and while it took a little bit to get into her perspective, I actually ended up loving her side of the story a lot and I can’t wait to see where things are headed next。 I also love Max and Tisaanah so much! Carissa could seriously write a book about them going grocery shopping or something equally mundane and I’d still pay to read it and rave about it。 So much heart has gone into creating these characters and I’m here for it。 They feel like real people with such fragile hopes and dreams and desires。 Likewise, even the side characters have depth and motivations outside of the MCs goals and I love it。 Broadbent is particularly good at writing morally-gray characters that you can understand and dare I say root for, so if that’s your thing, read this series now! You’re welcome!🤓Now, drawing away from the author’s strength of character development, I also feel like the plot and pacing were even better here。 Some complained that book 1 was a bit slow (I personally found the pacing perfect) but I can assure you, this one is really well paced and the story grows so much。 There’s plenty of magic-filled battles, romance, political upheavals, and twists to please readers。 This book really kept my attention from start to finish and I loved every second of it。 So, if that was a concern for you with this monster book of 624 pages, believe me, it’s epic and painful and so worth the read。 Truly, I didn’t want to leave this world!🤩🤩Aside from all that I loved, I did knock off the half star, but only for a few things that don’t take away a whole lot and can be expanded upon。 So onto that: I really would have liked a map for this series, it would have given a bit more insight and made the world that much more immersive。 I also feel like we need a pronunciation guide! Some of the names are difficult and I kept trying to look them up for pronunciations or meanings。 Just pulled me from the story occasionally, so I think a guide would’ve been super helpful。 I also feel that some of the history of the world could’ve been clearer so we could better understand when things were happening and how long it’s been since certain events。 There were a couple times I had to retrace the timeline or review what had already been said, so a little refresh on all of that would’ve been helpful。 Still, nothing that really makes me love this series any less。 It’s amazing and deserves much more love! So, to finish off my review and hit main points aside from enthusiastic fangirling, I’d recommend this series if you like:•Epic battles and soft magic systems •flawed and lovable characters that you can root for•sweet romance that doesn’t overwhelm the plot and *actually* adds to the character development •strong female leads and realistic, fleshed male leads•morally-gray characters •Fey, Fey kingdoms/royalty •Evolving plots that keep you guessing•Awesome independent authors that put out quality reads。🤗Carissa Broadbent is incredibly talented and I’m so glad I gave this series a chance。 I can’t wait to read Mother of Death and Dawn and can’t wait to see what she writes next! She’s an awesome writer and easily deserves to be listed among the YA/NA greats。 I’m excited to have discovered this author early on and I have no doubt her following is going to continue to grow! So, do yourself a favor and read this series。 You won’t regret it! 。。。more

A memory is the imprint of a past story, And all of mine have been ripped away。" At first, I didn't really care about Aefe's POV or story。 But Broadbent did widen the scope of the world in the series with the addition of the Fey race。 It was fascinating even if it was mostly character-based and we were just dropped in the middle of their world and are expected to keep up with their issues。 When the revelations started coming in, that's when I found that I cared and that's when I realized that the thing the characters were so concerned and afraid of since the beginning was not actually the real villain of the story。 There are even bigger monsters left to hunt in the third book。 And let me tell you, I have never hated Nura as much as I hated her towards the end of this book。 She is my evil bitch and I do hope that we see a redemption arc for her in the third book or if Miss Broadbent decides to skin her because of how treacherous she is, that's fine with me too 🤣。 🍂🍂🍂"I'm with you," Max murmured, and gods, I never knew how precious three words could be。 🍂🍂🍂Another thing, Max has earned my heart and my soul in this book。 There just isn't another male lead like any other。 He and Tisaanah saved each other, yes。 But he was willing to burn away the world if it meant saving her。 Again, I'm in love with this series, I'm so excited for book 3, the author replies to my messages on Instagram - she's so nice! I enjoyed this a lot more than I did the first book and that is mainly due to the introduction of a new POV to the story, Aefe。 I spoiled myself on who she really is, but I think that made me enjoy her chapters a lot more。 I really hope Aefe and Caduan will have a happy ending in the final book。 They have both lost and endured so much throughout the years and I just want them to be happy。 I’m still uncertain if Caduan will be the big bad or if that will be Nura。 I really hope it is Nura。 God, I I enjoyed this a lot more than I did the first book and that is mainly due to the introduction of a new POV to the story, Aefe。 I spoiled myself on who she really is, but I think that made me enjoy her chapters a lot more。 I really hope Aefe and Caduan will have a happy ending in the final book。 They have both lost and endured so much throughout the years and I just want them to be happy。 I’m still uncertain if Caduan will be the big bad or if that will be Nura。 I really hope it is Nura。 God, I hated that girl。 If she doesn’t die in the next book, I’ll rip my hair out。 She got on my nerves so much and I just have no sympathy for her。 The chapters from her POV were not enough for me to like her or even pity her。 I struggled through those chapters because I simply do not care for her。As for Max, he still continues to be my favorite character in the series。 He was loyal, kind and has such a noble heart。 I loved his character arc in this book。 He went from being a recluse to someone who was willing to step up and lead his people。 The scenes he had with Moth were so damn cute。 They very much have a brotherly relationship and I hope we get to see more of it in the next book。Now, we have to talk about Tisaanah。 She was still a meh character for me。 Her chapters were my least favorite to read, but I’m still not quite sure why I don’t seem to like her though。Overall, this was better than the first book。 I still struggled with understanding the magic system though and I did feel like sometimes certain scenes were dragged out, specifically the fight scenes。 This book could have been a little bit shorter in my opinion。 However, I’m excited for the final book in this trilogy and to see how the author wraps up the story。 。。。more

Good gods where do I start。 Should I start with the fact that I would Die for Tissanah and Max? Or that the plot twists and political games had me on the edge of my seat, impatiently waiting for what would happen next? That Aefe is a brilliant edition to an already stellar series? This book, this whole series, Carissa Broadbent herself, has my eternal loyalty。 The action, intricate relationships, and moral questions should make this a must read on everyone’s shelf。

It took me way too long to read this book because as much as I would have loved to binge read the entire thing in one night, life got in the way。 But this book offered me the escape I needed and I savoured my taste of it no matter how little I could read。 So I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Wow, this bookCarissa Broadbent what have you done to me?Reading this book is certainly an experience, one that won't leave anyone indifferent。 I loved "Daughter of No Worlds", I was taken aback with how good it was。。。, so believe me when I say this one is better。 It really is such an amazing book, but I really don't know how to process it。 IT BROKE ME, and I mean broke me。I'll get to spoilers in a bit, but god, be prepared to be shocked, mortified and completely obliterated by this book。 Anyway Wow, this bookCarissa Broadbent what have you done to me?Reading this book is certainly an experience, one that won't leave anyone indifferent。 I loved "Daughter of No Worlds", I was taken aback with how good it was。。。, so believe me when I say this one is better。 It really is such an amazing book, but I really don't know how to process it。 IT BROKE ME, and I mean broke me。I'll get to spoilers in a bit, but god, be prepared to be shocked, mortified and completely obliterated by this book。 Anyways, I've already pre-ordered "Mother of Death and Dawn" and I can't wait。***********SPOILERS AHEAD***********Okey so, wtf was that?No seriously。Why did Carissa Broadbent do this to us?One of the things I struggle the most with fantasy books is the multiple POVs。 I always find myself enjoying one plot more than the other and the cutting back and forth pisses me off。But, Carissa nailed it。The characters I already loved had ok plots, and the new character, THE NEW CHARACTER, sweet, precious Aefe, had such a good plot。Yes, please, feel pity for me, because I LOVED AEFE。 I loved her storyline, her character, her background, her love interest (I-, I can't)。When I tell you I sobbed my eyes out。 I will never know peace after what this book did to me。 I genuinely convinced myself that the two storylines were going to meet inside that stone building, and when THERE'S ONLY ISHQA INSIDE! (I'm seriously tearing up writing this thing, I'm not ok)。It completely took me by surprise。Even after every other death, after Caduan's death, I still thought Ishqa and her were going to be alright, and I-。It was masterfully done。 This reminds me why I love Adult fantasy。 All the morally grey characters, the heartbreaking decisions they make because they feel there's no other way。。。 I mean, after everything, the fact that Aefe and Caduan are "the bad guys" and Ishqa, after what he did, is "a good guy"。。。 I love this author's mind。Everything else I'm not commenting on is also perfect。 Max and Tisaanah?! I love them so much。That finale with the: “He got the parrot to match the coat。” I will never know peace again。Anyways, this saga is becoming one of my favourites of all time。 Carissa Broadbent, you go girl, keep breaking my heart and making me thank you for it。 Love you tho。 。。。more

This series is so painfully underrated it hurts。 The intricate thought behind the plot and character arcs in this book was truly immaculate。 You know when a fantasy book is SO good it literally feels like a movie? That’s exactly how I felt。 The plot twists had my jaw on the floor and my mind simply mush。 Read this series if you’re an Acotar Stan looking for stories not inspired by Zionism <3

Its fingers reached deeper, caressing my mind as if in a final farewell。{What a perfect shape,} it murmured, {for a lost soul。} Rating: 4。25 starsWow。 I don’t know what I expected going into this book。。。 but this complex and mind-reeling story shattered any expectations I may have subconsciously had。 I think it may be easiest to first explain why I docked my rating 。75 stars, and then move into what I loved about this book。 Simply put, a majority of this book contained tense, war-planning and fight scenes that quite frankly were not memorable to me。 I understand the purpose they served but。。。 PHEW it takes a hell of a long time to get to the meat of the plot。 I truly had to force myself to stay focused while reading because my attention kept going astray。 While I initially enjoyed Aefe’s POV, I soon grew bored and didn’t see its purpose anymore。 I just wanted something meaningful to happen。 If I were a less dedicated reader, I may have dnf’d。 And then, about 72% in, everything fucking clicked into place。The second a *certain* plot twist is revealed, I was hooked。 You couldn’t pay me to put down the book at that point。 I was screaming over text to Deanna, I was enthralled! Parts I thought were boring suddenly held so much meaning。 I sat staring at the ceiling for several minutes, working through all the details I overlooked。 The final 18% is such a rush。 The ending has me desperate for more!Minor spoilers here: I adored the complex topics that were tackled in this book。 The conflicting emotions of wanting to giving everything up for your people while they would betray you in an instant, Max’s painful desire for Tisaanah to have met his family (but she comes to the conclusion that she may not have liked him and his life back them, and his family would not have liked her), Aefe’s entire arc。。。 some of these scenes truly took my breath away。 We had many beautiful moments seeded into this book, even in the portion of the book I found to be a bit drier to get through。I see the genius in this book, I truly do。 The level of skill Carisa’s storytelling takes。。。 “wow” is the only thought I can form here! I think Carisa’s plot choices have elevated the possibilities book 3 can rise to, and I am absolutely on board with whatever direction she chooses to go in。 I have confidence that whatever may happen, it will kick ass!********Below is a general (and messy) plot recap filled with SPOILERS。 I truly enjoyed this book, I did, but it’s so lengthy that I can’t see myself wanting to reread for quite some time。 This book was just a mentally exhausting beast。 So I’m writing some of the plot down so I can do a quick memory refresh come time for the next and final book release!*********these plot lines/ POVs are told in a revolving manner, and we don’t know that Aefe’s POV takes places centuries before the present until we see Ishqa with Tisaanah and Max after they receive the crate of hands*Aefe: Former “teirness” (aka princess?) in the fae realm, goes on a scouting mission with Ishqa, King Caduan (who became king upon the slaughter of his kingdom and everyone else in line for the throne in front of him), and others to investigate fae murders at the hands of humans。 Was thought to be of full fae blood but the was discovered cerca age 10 to harbor a rare and superstitiously “tainted” power that set her on the outskirts of her family。 This scouting mission essentially culminates to a trip to an exiled kingdom where the offspring of fae and humans live, seeking help to put a stop to the murders。 Going to this kingdom is treasonous, but the group agrees it’s necessary to accomplish their goals。 Aefe and Caduan grow close。 Aefe discovers her father isn’t the king, but that her mother once lived in that exiled kingdom and became pregnant there— and the man telling her this is her father。 Later that night, the kingdom is overtaken, Caduan thought to be dead, and Ishqa and Aefe escape。 Isqua discovers Aefe’s people have slaughtered his, and in turn decides to betray Aefe and hand her over to be dissected and used as a weapon by humans。 Ishqa gains a pact with the humans to be spared, and the humans can use Aefe as a weapon to win their own wars。 Aefe is abused for centuries, and becomes Rashaye, aka “no one”。 This is the entity we know of in book 1 that inhibited Max and is currently inside Tisaanah。 Tisaanah and Max: Zeryth has them split up across the land, conquering location after location in an effort to get him the crown following Queen Sesri’s death。 Zeryth links his life to Tisaanah’s to ensure he is not killed at any of their hands, and the use of this foreign magic taints Zeryth from the inside out, ultimately being a contribution factor to his downfall, when Rashaye kills him (and then she “sacrifices” herself to fulfill the curse for Tisaanah, and presumed to be dead)。 Tisaanah and Max conquer everywhere they go, winning the crown with spilling as little blood as possible。 They go on a two week break following the end of the war and Rashaye’s/Zeryth’s deaths, and at the end of this, are left with a crate full of hands outside their house— hands of the now-dead slaves left in Threll (owned by the angry Zorokov family) that Tisaanah promised she would go back to free。 Following the discovery of this crate, creepy ass shadow monsters start attacking them, and Tisaanah and Max narrowly escape with the help of a mysterious note。 Flash forward, the owner of this note is Ishqa, who is seeking their help to find Aefe and some missing fae (his son included)。 They tell him she’s dead but he says nah not possible。 Tisaanah and Max go to bitch ass Nura who is now acting commander, and she shows them the missing fae。 Nura horrifically planned to create more weapons like Rashaye。 Flash forward to the day Nura is about to officially voted in as commander, and Max challenges her for it because he knows how ruthless a leader she would be。 In the midst of battle, Caudan has the worst timing and hops into Max’s brain after sending him using his powers。 He goes wild when he sees Tisaanah and tries to cut Aefe out of her body, because of course she’s still alive。 Honestly not quite sure what happened here but I think Caudan ripped out Aefe (and he brings her “home”), and then Max gave Tisaanah his power so she could use it to cut Caudan from his head, and then he gave her some more power to help her survive。 They get separated following this, Ishqa pulls Tisaanah out of there, and bitch ass Nura uses this as her moment to overpower Max。 While Max is out cold, she spins the narrative into her favor。 Tells everyone he chose to murder people in that battle way back when (it was actually bitch ass Nura who forced him of course) and frames him for being allied with the fae。 He gets sent to this wild and inhumane prison。 Tisaanah wakes up with everyone else (Serel, Sammerin, the refugees, etc) and goes crazy when she learns where he is。 Vows to get him back。 Ends on bitch ass Nura feeling “nothing” as she will feel once she’s dead, justttttt after Tisaanah skins her alive!Phew。 Here’s to hoping I don’t feel compelled for a rr because this is a whole endeavor to dive into this world like this!! 。。。more

I loved the Daughter of No Worlds and was super excited to start Children of Fallen Gods。 Unfortunately, it kind of went downhill from there。The introduction of Aefe's chapters took much too long to become integrated and it felt like reading two separate novels for a while。 Tisaanah and Max's POVs were repetitive, as was the plot。 It felt like the same thing over and over and eventually felt like a chore to keep reading。 Not going to continue with this series。 I loved the Daughter of No Worlds and was super excited to start Children of Fallen Gods。 Unfortunately, it kind of went downhill from there。The introduction of Aefe's chapters took much too long to become integrated and it felt like reading two separate novels for a while。 Tisaanah and Max's POVs were repetitive, as was the plot。 It felt like the same thing over and over and eventually felt like a chore to keep reading。 Not going to continue with this series。 。。。more

I don’t even know how to review this series。 Books 1 and 2 were so much better than anything I have read lately, a whole other level。 The characters were multidimensional, and there was so much character development。The story and plot are interesting, well written。 There was nothing out of place, not a single for sentence that didn’t belong。 No annoying repetition of stuff, not even in book 2。 Typically in series, the author always spend a lot of time summarizing what happened in previous books, I don’t even know how to review this series。 Books 1 and 2 were so much better than anything I have read lately, a whole other level。 The characters were multidimensional, and there was so much character development。The story and plot are interesting, well written。 There was nothing out of place, not a single for sentence that didn’t belong。 No annoying repetition of stuff, not even in book 2。 Typically in series, the author always spend a lot of time summarizing what happened in previous books, this this one just picked up right away without wasting time to summarize。 I already preorders book 3 and can’t wait to read it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Honestly, the beginning of the book was pretty slow and repetitive, but when Tisaanah and Max finally reunited it got slightly better AND when Aefe’s character was finally explained, it all fit together and the plot comes together SO WELL。 I’m really mad that Nura sent Max to Ilyzath and I love Caduan and Max of course。 I hate Nura and good riddance Zyreth。

This book was an amazing second instalment。 I think my favourite parts of the book were from Aefe’s perspective, and getting to learn more about Reshaye and where it came from was also a bonus。 The only drawback I think was that I couldn’t figure out who Aefe was and the relevance to the main storyline but after a few chapters from her perspective it made a lot more sense。 The story building is incredible and it really makes you feel for the main characters and drags you into the storyline。 Whil This book was an amazing second instalment。 I think my favourite parts of the book were from Aefe’s perspective, and getting to learn more about Reshaye and where it came from was also a bonus。 The only drawback I think was that I couldn’t figure out who Aefe was and the relevance to the main storyline but after a few chapters from her perspective it made a lot more sense。 The story building is incredible and it really makes you feel for the main characters and drags you into the storyline。 While some points were a little predictable, I can honestly say that I did not see the twist at the end of this book and it nearly killed me。 Was a little disappointed that the end seemed almost rushed but it was still very good!
